Column: I had a panic attack, JennJ saved the day + Quickie Contest

Have you’ve ever seen me panicked?

No?

That is probably for the best since it ain’t a pretty sight!

JennJ is one of those peeps who did though…why you might wonder?

Well, you take one impulse idea to change the format of your blog.

You take that request to one of the best blog designers you know and have her way with your blog.

Then she asks all sorts of questions to install the new template that shrinks my blog ego to the size of raisons.

Then, when I give said blog designer some super sekret blog info and gets the template installed but now all my widgets are all on the left, which can happen but hubby raced for a bag as I started to hyperventilate.

My blood pressure went from a slightly worrisome 140 (because I’m soooooo good at giving away the control *rolls eyes at self*) to a *OhMyGawdWhyOhWhyDidIHaveToChangeAnything??!!* rant to the computer.

JennJ was all calm…she was the voice of wisdom…the light at the end of the tunnel.

We got it sorted out…of course, what else did you expect from JennJ! *grin*

JennJ is the goddess of man candy – see the evidence of my new header hunk.

Every question or request I fired at her, yes an M16 had nothing on me because me in a panicked state loses all form of friendliness *shameface* But JennJ calmed me down, worked with my requests - can still hug her for the extra time she put in template – and hit the bulls eye with my new blog expanding, gorgeous stylized drop down menu *dreamboat sigh*

It’s a week later now and I’m all calm, confidence and smiles again and love, love, LOVE what JennJ did. I loved it from the start but my panic attack prevented me from fully inhaling the slimmer, slick format.

The why behind it all you might wonder?

I was completely head over heels for the sand dollar template, mainly because it has a wider blogpost body and I know my reviews eat up space. I didn’t want visitors to have a scroll finger from reading my reviews. But as I entered some blog networks who took a screenshot of my blog I noticed it was all scrambled up. It made me wonder how many peeps saw my blog like that. Then I was starting to have more features, more challenges and I wanted a drop down menu. Well let me tell you how many grey hairs that gave me…it’s L’Oreal every 8 weeks for sure!!!!

Since I tweaked my blog with tutorials (as I’m a stubborn Leo thinking I can do blog design myself) I just kept tweaking it for two years but with adding the codes for the drop down menu I just had to admit defeat…so there you have it. My breaking point was reached and I went to JennJ from Sapphire Blog Design to make my blog template all better without losing the look I love so much :)

So JennJ, thank you for holding my hand through the changes and giving me what I so desperately wanted!! You iz made of awesome hon!!!

  2. I went through blog trauma as well. I even wrote a letter to my blog and told it I would never mess with it again until I had saved the codes. It was a hellish 3 hours. I might have blacked out during that time.

I have a confession - I have not read either one of those authors even though I have heard mad good things about them.

  3. Oh what stressful situations blogs can creat. But I'm glad JennJ was there to save the day and restore your sanity :-) (It looks great now ;-p)

I already have (and LOVE) Kresley Cole's Pleasure of a Dark Prince so I'd only like to enter for Gena Showalter's book. Thank you! :-)

  4. @Nanny - JennJ rocks with the webdesigns but I haz serious control issues. This just put a very confronting mirror in front of my face ;)

@LilyOfDarkness - I have the same gut reaction, no more template tweaking for this blog. Playtime is reserved for testblog only!

And you haven't read either Showalter or Cole *gasp*

@Stella - I iz so glad you like it too and yes, JennJ really saved my day!

  10. LOL ok first off love the cat photo. Now you weren't that bad honey truly! You might have thought you were but you were fine I deal with coding on a daily basis and it can be a total bear. I have a few grey hairs because of coding myself but not from yours LOL!!! BIG HUGS my dear and it was a true pleasure working with you. Bless you for your kind words not sure I deserve all that praise but I appreciate it. :) You are awesome!

  11. I would soo be freaking out too! I'm glad things all worked out though and that you have extra prettiness for your home!

I have another 'practice template' blog that I use(d) occasionally to try something out.. and well, the verdict is that I suck on all accounts of coding!! Now the template blog just sits there and I've learned to pay people to make things happen! I knew I should have went for the IT degree instead of management! :P

Oh! And by the way - I HEART your man candy picture in your header! Yummy, yummy!

  12. I love your bloggy :) Nice job JennJ. Glad your blood pressure is back to normal Leontine LOL

  13. @cecile - Calm as a cucumber >> is that an American phrase...do i want to know the meaning *wink*

@Blodeuedd - Lea bailed me out too once with going from 2 to 3 column template. She's a lifesaver too!

@JennJ - *sighes in relief* really I thought I was a she-neanderthal but so incredible happy with new template!!

@Tanya - I know a bit of basic coding and it is mostly the creative side such as making a header, color matching, widget buttons and stuff that I love so much. But when it gets complicated I try to chew on the problem until its lost all flavor before I go to someone else for help...I iz a bit stubborn in that department *eek*

@Fiction Vixen - I can focus myself on the funstuff of blogging again *grin*

  32. Oh, I feel you! I'm an html/css/whatever-you-call-those-tags n00b who wants to do some MAJOR changes on her blog. Tried it thrice but failed four times D: I haven't given up, though. Someday, my blog will look exactly how I picture it. But, I think I'll need all the help I can get DX

  33. YAY! Those are two AWESOME authors! I already have the Kresley Cole book, but would love to get my hands on Gena's!

  34. Haha, the one time I spazed out was when "Cutest Blog On The Block" stuck a message on my, and everyone who has a layout from them, saying it would disapear in a few days if we didn't change the HTML. I couldn't remember, for the life of me, where I'd stuck that code so I was searching all of my layout design settings. Nearly fainted when I found it. lol. Any who, Sign me up for the quickie contest please ma'am.

  37. Lol gotta love the kitty photo you chose!

Anywho, changing blog designs is scary business. I wish as I was design savvy and had the super awesome knowledge (and software when required) to do what the designers out there are doing. But alas...I'm skill-less.

I like the end result and I'm so glad to hear that things finally worked out in the end. I can only imagine (with the help of your descriptions) how crazy things got. I'm so scared to touch the design of mine after I nearly destroyed the layout a while ago.

I'd also adore a chance at those lovely books of yours dear! Thanks so much
