New cover love from Sherrilyn Kenyon

Sherrilyn Kenyon
expected publication: February 1st 2012 by St. Martin's Griffin
binding: Hardcover
primary language: English.
original title: Infamous.
series: Chronicles of Nick #3

Cover Summary:
The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters. Now Nick’s saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume...

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive such a difficulty? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself.

My view: At one hand I feel the symbols on many of Sherrilyn Kenyon's releases create a recognizable trademark for her various series but it holds very little appeal to me. Of course I'm an abs-obsessed, half-nekkid, sword-posing, ink-on-skin, beefcake cover ho and this is a YA cover for crying out loud. Still, the Born in trilogy, the Dark-Hunter series and I believe also her Dream-Hunter series has these symbols, while I love the tribal feel it unfortunately doesn't set my imagination in to overdrive. It probably serves a purpose but I miss the days where *RAWR* man-candy covers graced the cover of a DH or DH release! INFAMOUS however is nice but I never saw Nick as such a 'clean-looking' kid.

  1. None of the covers for this series has blown me away but I think they fit the books. Can't wait for this one! LOVE Nick and I'm looking forward to his actual DH book.

Although I'm not holding my breath it will actually be released on Feb 1st. Each of the previous books release dates were pushed back at least month.

  2. I agree with you on this Leontine. But I still don't believe these books actually fit the Nick I got to know through the Dark Hunter books. So, haven't read them.

  4. Oh... I still have the 2nd book to read - it's at the top of my TBR pile, but I keep having other books get in the way!

Anyhow, I like the covers for the Nick Series. I think they are effective for a YA series, they show a young Nick, and the symbols give the feeling of mystery, magic, dark powers. However - I'm not a fan of the symbols ONLY on the Dark Hunter series.

  6. I love the covers for the ya genre. But then again, I'm into tribal. lol

I agree that Nick isn't the same...but I think that's her point. She's changing what actually happened somehow. She's always got a twist around the corner and I can't wait to read more :D

    So excited for more Nick!

  8. @Paranormal Haven - I think I'll be in my forties when Nick's actual DH book will be released but hope it will be quite the ride untill then!!

@Aurian - I see glimpses of him and book one was a good intro but still need to read book two; Invincible.

@Sparklybearsy - You likes him too?! Have you read Invincible as well?

@Twimom227 - I agree, the cover probably appeals to the YA growd but for me they simply do not speak. The DH book covers are a complete dud for me :(

@Blodeued - Another detail I didn't know about you; you likes green!! :)

@Nixie - I sometimes see glimpses of that acerbic humor of Nick but even in the early stages of the DH series I perceived Nick differently. I hear ya on the character progress...I hope it will be awesome!

@Lis - You likes Invincible, YAY!!! I started in it on release day but it was way too much drama for my taste ATM, so I put it aside for another day. Recently I developed that new quirk. It isn't fun but something I'll have to accept. Hope in due time it will go away though!
