1)      Why did you start blogging. What do you enjoy the most?

I started my blog Romantic Book fan in July 2012. I always read very much, normally 20 till 30 books a month. And I liked reading other book blogs so I started thinking about my own blog, where I can publish my reviews. I want to recommend books that I like very much and give my readers ideas what they could read. I enjoy it very much when I get a feedback to a review or an article at my blog.

2)      What is your favorite genre right now and has it changed over the years?

I think my favorite genre is the romantic fantasy genre but unfortunately the German publishers actually don`t translate as much books of this genre as they did a few years ago. I also liked the genre romantic thrillers and erotic romances, like Syliva Day with her Crossfire-series. Sometimes I read historical romances, I like Julia Quinn and Teresa Medeiros very much.

3)      Tell us about your most cherished authors and their books?

I love the Psy Changeling series of Nalini Singh and the Midnight Breed series of Lara Adrian. But it depends of the genre. In each genre I have a favorite author.

4)      When did you attend the LLC for the first time? What was your best experience?

I visited the Love Letter Convention in 2012 when it first took place in Berlin. It was wonderful to meet all the readers that love books as much as I love them. And it was fantastic to get to know all the authors like Nalini Singh, Lara Adrian, Larissa Ione and the German authors like Michelle Raven, Stefanie Ross and Kristina Günak. The best experience was a photo with Nalini Singh and me. I also spoke a little bit with Nalinis mother, she was very nice.

5)      Which author would you love to meet at the LLC and what would you do or say?

I would enjoy meeting Nalini Singh and Lara Adrian again. But I also want to meet Sylvia Day because I like her Crossfire series very much. I would ask her everything about the series and I would want to know how the series will continue.

6)      why did you apply to become a LLC official blogger?
I liked the LLC 2012 very much and I loved the idea of the event.

It gives readers the golden opportunity to meet their favorite authors in a familiar environment. I think there´s nothing better than to publish news of this wonderful event and to let other people know of it.

7)      what does it mean to you becoming an LLC blogger and do you have any plans?

I'm very honored to be one of only 5 LLC bloggers and I´m very happy that I was chosen to report news about the event.

8) Which event do you like to attend at the LLC 2014?

When I'm lucky I will have a meet & great with someone like Syliva Day or Lara Adrian. I also like Tina Folsom and her Scanguards series very much and would be happy to learn something about her future plans.

Guestpost; Katie Porter talks Sexuality in Vegas Top Guns

Sexuality in Vegas Top Guns
By Katie Porter

Bare Knuckle is the last of our debut Katie Porter series, “Vegas Top Guns”. Since the initial release of the first title, Double Down, we’ve been asked many questions about the sexual fetishes we’ve presenting across the five books. From roleplaying to femdom, we’ve touched on a bit of everything, while focusing on dovetailing the romance that makes for a satisfying happily ever after.

Bare Knuckle is no different. Fighter pilot Eric “Kisser” Donaghue is the survivor of a plane crash, which was revealed at the end of book four, Hard Way. He’s scarred and surly, with a life goal that belies the personality we presented him with in previous installments. He has a brother in rehab, a side career in off-Strip boxing, and a surprisingly artistic side as a photographer. The only subject of his photographs is women.

He’s a voyeur.

The trick with creating a voyeur hero—and frankly, the trick with imbuing any of our characters with fetishes some readers may not relate to—was to make him accessible. When people think voyeur, they make thinking creepy peeping toms who watch women through parted curtains. For Eric, he keeps his fetish in his bedroom/studio alone.

As with all the fetishes we’ve written about for our daring fighter pilots, we were intent on pairing personality with sexuality. Sure Eric has been scarred, but his voyeurism is not new. Handsome and gruff, from a bad background, he grew up wanting two things: beauty and truth. Sure, a lot of women are beautiful, but how many of them are willing to bare everything, not just their bodies? How many are willing to open up so vulnerably that his photographs reveal the real essence of their true selves?

In asking those questions, he has to confront one unexpected event. He meets Trish Monroe, a Vegas showgirl—and an exhibitionist whose need to be admired makes the perfect subject for his photographs…and for his appetites. They combust. But as with all our “Vegas Top Guns” protagonists, the conflict comes from admitting that yes, the fetish is not only all right, but exactly right for them both.

Kisser is a stubborn guy. Trish is even more stubborn. And she won’t let this series we’ve adored end with anything less than a fairy tale ending. We hope you’ll enjoy our peek into yet another sexual subculture that may be a little out of the way, but defines our ideal romance: two people who are utterly suited to each other...forever.

We'd like to give away a copy of BARE KNUCKLE in any digital format. Just answer the question: In future Katie Porter books, which fetish would you like to read about?

What the critics are saying:
“The duo behind Katie Porter goes out with a bang in the last of their phenomenal ‘Vegas Top Guns’ series.” ~ RT Book Reviews 4½ Stars

ARC Review; Kresley Cole - Endless Knight

Expected publication: October 1st 2013 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers,br />
Original title; Endless Knight
ASIN; B00BAWBLLY
Language; English
Series; The Arcana Chronicles #2
Characters; Evie Greene, Jackson Deveaux

Goodreads Summary

In the second book of the Arcana Chronicles Evie has now fully come into her powers as the tarot Empress. And Jackson was there to see it all. In the aftermath of killing Arthur, the tarot Alchemist, Evie realizes that a war is brewing between the other teens that, following the apocalypse, have been given powers and its kill or be killed.

Things get even more complicated when Evie meets Death, the mysterious, sexy Endless Knight. Somehow the Empress and Death share a romantic history - one that Evie can't remember, but Death can't forget. She is drawn to the Endless Knight, but is in love with Jack. Determined to discover why she's been granted these powers, Evie struggles to accept her place in a prophecy that will either save the world, or completely destroy it.

Review; !!Can contain some minor spoilers!!

ENDLESS KNIGHT picks up right after the events in POISON PRINCESS and I quickly connected again with Evie, Jack, Selena, Finneas and Matthew. From the first page the tension between the characters is tangible and the foes that lurk in every dark corner are very dangerous.

I am not a zombie fan. I don’t watch The Walking Dead as I can hardly stomach all the gore. However, I was drawn in by the high octane suspense of Gunthrie and his flesh eating followers. The allies and adversaries of Evie, and the battle that is played between the Arcana cards, is providing a page turner of a story! The reader is pulled in to the battle by Kresley Cole’s imaginative writing style and appealing characters. The threat, which lies everywhere, hums throughout the pages and kept me on my toes. The love I have for this series lies not only in the fact that the world building is detailed but also that I have no clue what’s coming. Every chapter reveals new information or thrusts the characters in to new dangers to overcome, surprising me at every turn. It brings new light or deepens the interpersonal relationships between the main characters; Evie, Jackson, Death, Selena, Finneas and Matthew.

The plot twists made me gasp, there were layers upon layers to unravel with each character and I couldn’t get enough of it. Why did Evie and Jack ‘do it’? I expected slow burn kisses, taking it step by step but emotions combined with their attraction were an explosive combination and they were going for it. All.The.Way!! It baffled me a bit but as I read the chapters away a game changer was revealed that connected the dots for me. It put a new perspective on everything. The connections Kresley Cole is weaving between the characters, both allies and adversaries, is formidable.

Evie’s life and emotions are in turmoil. After the Flash its survival of the canniest and the strongest. Evie’s still discovering her powers as The Empress as she needs to fight off many enemies like the Bagman, an army and other Arcana. I love the complexity of her external circumstances. Everything she does, every decision she makes and all she feels is portrayed for the reader to absorb.

Selena is still tough-as-nails. Matthew is vague as ever. Finn is still a charmer and Jackson is still the coolest guy on the block. Changes are coming for all of them and some changes reeled me on my axes. New characters also come in to play. Like Lark, quirky but with a certain humor, I enjoyed her role in Endless Knight. Death however rocked me to my core. He is the enemy, the one to defeat. Evil to the core and scheming every minute of the day. Or so I thought in Poison Princess.

Kresley Cole equals formidable characters, they brim the story with their electric personalities, as did Death. Kresley Cole hit my weakness for bad-boys with heart. Death is still dangerous to the core but I was shown a side to him that surprised me. An even greater surprise was that in the end I liked him, a lot!! Perhaps some readers might think; Oh no, what the hell?! But I was all; Oh yes!! Give me more!!

The story contains pulls pounding action scenes but also takes time to unfold background stories of various characters. Main and supporting characters weren’t just there on paper, they came alive in my mind, keeping my attention at an all-time high. It was no surprise that I read this book cover to cover in one day. This is something only a story can do if I’m fully emotional invested. Something Kresley Cole can do like no other!

Kresley Cole set the bar real high with POISON PRINCESS but she shattered it for me with ENDLESS KNIGHT. It is all there; edge of your seat suspense, characters to connect and root for, game changing plot twists and a breathtaking love. I will never look at my Tarot cards the same! The Arcana Chronicles is a Young Adult series to savor, page by page.

5 stars

With a shrug, I reached for my jeans. “If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the cabin.” He swallowed audibly. “Brûlant.” Sizzling hot. “And believe me, cher, I plan to take that heat.”

You likin’ ole Jack now?” “I never stopped liking you. Even when you were warding me away with the power of Catholicism.” “Can’t help the way I was raised—anything supernatural is supposed to be either a miracle or satanic.” I rolled my eyes. “And you’re still trying to figure out which I am?” “Non. I’m trying to figure out if I’m still Catholic.” He grinned that heart-stopping grin.

There was French kissing, and then there was Cajun French kissing. Spicier, harder, wilder. That’s how it was with Jackson. Burning out of control. Probably just as destructive as an inferno. And I didn’t care.

If Jack had awakened my desire, Death was enlivening my mind, attracting me in a way I’d never experienced before.

Review; Delilah Marvelle - Romacing Lady Stone

Format; ebook, 162 pages
Published August 16th 2013 by Delilah Marvelle Productions, LLC
ISBN; 1939912016 (ISBN13: 9781939912015)
Language; English
Series; School of Gallantry #3.5
Source; won this novella in a contest

Summary Goodreads:
He believes in destiny. She just wants to survive it...

At forty, Lady Cecilia Evangeline Stone thinks she has everything a woman could ever want. A title, a fortune, and four children who make her proud. After a marriage of convenience that was anything but convenient, she has no desire to complicate her life by including a man in it again. When her eldest son announces his engagement to a Russian actress in Saint Petersburg, Cecilia sets out to do what any good mother would do: stop the wedding. Unfortunately, destiny has other plans.

Konstantin Alexie Levin never considered himself to be a villain. In fact, he considers himself to be a Russian gentleman. Having grown up in a refined and well-educated family that embraced criminal life to avoid debtor’s prison, the only thing preventing him from knowing happiness is the rest of the world. Everything changes, however, when Konstantin is given a chance to start life anew and travel to London to collect an unexpected reward for saving a man’s life. To his surprise, he is about to become a hero at midnight to a beautiful aristocrat who desperately needs his help. The problem is…he wants to do more than save Lady Stone. He wants to make the woman his, all his.

WARNING: This book is Rated Double S (Sweaty & Sinful) and contains strong language and sexual content which may cause respectable people to swoon.

Review;

It has been a while since I picked up a historical romance by Delilah Marvelle but ever since I attended her workshop at the LLC in Berlin about courtesans she reignited my desire to read a story from her. Romancing Lady Stone is a novella within the School of Gallantry series but easily read as a standalone.

What instantly pulled me in to this novel was the intriguing character of Konstantin Alexie Levin. A criminal who’s on the path of becoming a respectable citizen. The blend of good character traits such as chivalry and the hint of danger which surround him turns Konstantin in to a man I love to read about. Also, the background story of his father plays an important role in his life and I was romanced by the idea of destiny.

Lady Cecilia Stone is driven by the need to see her son in Russia and gotten herself in to trouble. Lady Stone is from the get-go a very personable woman but what I enjoyed so much in the progress of the story is how she chose for herself. Her children are the number one priority but she deserves happiness as well. It gives her character backbone, her choices empower her and it made me root for her.

Through circumstances Konstantin and Cecilia are thrown together and the chemistry was slowly burning to a fever pitch. Even though I wondered how they would get their happily ever after it was undeniable Konstantin and Cecilia were good for each other. Delilah Marvelle has a penchant for sexual tension and writing hot, between the sheets, scenes. Konstantin warming Cecilia’s hands was utterly romantic, Konstantin dripping wet from a bath, utterly sexy but Konstantin and Cecilia between the sheets was an erotic dance which made the skin tingle!

Quote; The savage need to climax was mutual. It pulsed from their skin.

Every element in this novella; characters, scenery, dialogues is imbued with enough depth or detail to allow the reader to immerge in the period and romance. The quick pace of storytelling leaves little room for overly dramatic obstacles for the couple to overcome but in the essence it’s all there and I enjoyed it to the fullest. There’s also an intriguing interaction and history between Duc de Andelot and Madame de Maitenon that whets the appetite for more about them. Apparently they are going to have their own story for which I’m eagerly waiting!

Delilah Marvelle’s atmospheric writing style transports you to a blistering cold Moscow where you get to warm up with a scolding hot romance. Romancing Lady Stone was a wonderful reminder why I enjoy Delilah Marvelle’s stories so much!

A new adventure on the horizon; LoveLetter Convention 2014

My trip to Berlin and attending the LoveLetter Convention has been a blast again. Not only did me and my friends have hoops of fun but I got to meet old and new reader friends. This is one of the things I love so much about the LoveLetter Convention. Even though I get to meet certain people, like Caro and Susi only once a year, it’s like we never parted. We talk up a storm, laugh even more and have a great time. Then I meet new readers or get e-mails that they have pics from me during previous conventions and recognized me. It’s this fantastic vibe that creates connections I might never have otherwise and I’m always enjoying it to the fullest. I do crazy stuff, have a ball, meet incredible authors and the parting is always a bit sad.

Next year the LoveLetter Convention is changing venue and I’m thrilled to know the Con is such a hit. It has become an annual vacay for me, my sister; Natascha and my friends Maggie and Lucy. This year I got to meet Vivian Arend, Cherry Adair, Maya Banks and many more authors. I got to chat with Frauke from Croco Designs and we shared the love for the LLC. Tina Dick, whom is such a wonderful person from the organization, greeted us like old friends. My enthusiasm for the LLC has been there from the first and when I noticed a blogger sign up for the LLC in 2014, I just had the urge to toss my name in the hat. It still baffles me I got picked as an official blogger for the LLC.

There are four more bloggers joining me:
Aefkaeys World of Books (German)
Kielfeder (German)
Romantic Bookfan (German)
Tealicious Books (German)

Since the native language is German the rest of the bloggers are from Germany and it always impresses me how they are willing to speak English. I can understand and read German to a certain extend but speak it, not so much. I kinda ditched German class in sophomore year o.O It’s going to be quite the ride, the LLC2014, and I can’t wait to share it with you all!!

Here is a pic impression of my 2013 trip;

Review: Kitty Thomas - Big Sky

Author: Kitty Thomas
Publisher: Burlesque Press
Publishing date: September 22nd, 2012
Format: Hardcover, 188 pages.
ISBN: 1938639057
Genre: Erotica
Source: Author send me a review copy

Summary Goodreads
Veronica Cason lives in a small apartment with no clear view of the sky. It’s uncertain which might crush her first: her debt or the buildings squeezed in so tight that they surround her like ominous sentinels. She can’t breathe in the city. Her success is a lie, and her debt is coming to collect her—unless someone else gets there first.

When a stranger offers her a job at a ranch, it feels like salvation, but it could also mean her death if his motives aren’t pure. Which door has the tiger behind it? The claustrophobia of the city or ranch life under an open sky?

Review

When Kitty Thomas offered Big Sky for review I jumped to the chance. Comfort Food is still one of those erotica stories I’ll remember for its unusual and thought provoking storyline. I love challenging my boundaries but I think I bit more of than I can chew with Big Sky. I normally love the Dom/sub trope but what Kitty Thomas gave me rubbed me the wrong way.

Due to her own machinations, Ronnie hits rock bottom and with no penny to her name. She meets Luke by chance and he offers her a place to stay and work. His offer, however, has a lot more in store for Ronnie. I didn’t like Ronnie right off the bat with her nature of living above her means. Luke was interesting in the beginning but when Ronnie decides to move into his ranch the “fun” starts and all I wanted to do was slap Luke a good one across the face.
Quote;
'He released her then. She’d gotten only a few steps to the door when an electric zap shot up her body. She crumpled to the ground, shrieking so loudly she could barely believe the noise had come from her own mouth. She convulsed a few more times, then lay still, disoriented and terrified. Yes, Luke could do anything. He stood over her, a small remote in his hand. “If you try to signal for help in any way, I will push the button, and I won’t push it just once.” The shock cuff made even the idea of branding seem like child’s play.'
Luke’s way of conditioning Ronnie was the first sign of irritation. I couldn’t get in to the mind set of Ronnie why she would go along with it. Still I was patient enough to see her evolve. Then something else happened that was a major red flag for me.
Quote;
'I’m not kidding, Veronica. You will be her. Or else. You’ll make me forget you aren’t her. I’m not going back to before I found you. You will love me and obey me and submit to me, and you’ll do it with that look of adoration 'Trish used to give me or I’ll never stop making you regret wearing her face.” His voice had risen as he became more intense. “Am I getting through, here?'
Trish was Luke’s former submissive who died in childbirth. I had major trouble with the fact Luke wants Ronnie to become Trish. He didn’t value Ronnie on her own spirit or her own personality. No, he liked her because Ronnie looked like his deceased submissive. This fact made it very hard for me to believe in any kind of relationship between them.

There’s a fine line between a dominating man and an asshole, between a woman who finds strength in submission or just submitting. Luke and Ronnie didn't hit the balance right and I couldn't really get invested in their relationship dynamic. The character development and their motivation to be together was very self-centered and it put me off. Then the ranch helpers also got involved in the erotic nature of the game played by Luke. They wanted to drink breast milk from her.
Quote;
'Luke pulled away. “You’re going to give me milk like a good little animal, aren’t you?” She closed her eyes against his scrutiny. He stroked the side of her cheek. “I’m going to condition you to want to give me what I want. By the time your body is ready, the idea will arouse you so much, you’ll happily let me milk you every day.” Maybe a part of her sick, twisted mind already wanted to.
The erotic trope in Big Sky is definitely dark and twisted. While I like authors to push the envelope and search the boundaries of the reader, the sexual nature of Big Sky couldn’t make me gasp for breath or read on with a pounding heart. It was all; “Are you kidding me!” The ending befitted the story but like the rest of the story it didn’t leave me in any way satisfied.

Kitty Thomas possesses incredible writing skills but in Big Sky the characters failed to resonate with me and due to this the eroticism fell flat for me.

Review: Jasinda Wilder - Falling Into you

E-Book, 369 pages
Published March 14th 2013 by Jasinda Wilder
ISBN13: 2940016356938
Genre; Contemporary Romance
Series; Falling
I own this book.

Summary Goodreads;
I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way.
Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Review:

I found my way to, Falling Into you, via social media. In my Facebook timeline I noticed a link to an interview with self-published author, Jasinda Wilder. From that interview I wanted to know more about her books and went to Goodreads. There I read the blurb of Falling Into You and I knew it was the story for me to read. I was in an emotional state that morning and I needed a story that would satisfy my need for an equal emotional story. So I bought it and started reading immediately.
It was a first person storytelling and I was intrigued by Nell from the get-go. When the story begins she’s sixteen and falling in love with Kyle, her best friend. It was a sweet love story with the intensity of a first time love. I was swept away in the excitement that comes from being on the precipice of adulthood. Of giving yourself for the first time. Making plans for the future. I was there, emotionally invested in these two wonderful young people, when the story takes a dramatic turn and my heart was shredded to pieces.
I reveled in the impact it had on me and at the same time felt so sad for Nell. From that moment the story becomes edgier as one event turns the life of Nell and Colton irrivocably. The story was no longer sweet and rife with possibilities, but full of dark feelings and not knowing where to go or what to do. Just feel the storm inside.
Colton is a man that had to make it on his own from a very young age, he was an gang member, a fighter and is now trying to make something of his life. I loved the layers of his character. He could be violent, has his own moral code but the way he gives himself to Nell just had me falling for him, hard!
Nell is no longer that vibrant young woman but dealing with guilt and loss. The future she envisioned no longer one she desires. She is changed and dealing with it in her own way. Since this story is told from Nell’s perspective it is important the reader can connect with her. And that is exactly what I did! All the good and the bad, every emotion Nell has is exposed for me to absorb and I loved it. To experience how Nell came to terms and fall in love again was very moving.
Even though the storytelling has a fast pace the writing is beautiful and attention grabbing. It enhanced the impact as both main characters explored their emotional journey. The grief feels so real, their budding romance so poignant, their sexual attraction skating on the darker side and I just gobbled it all up. Colton and Nell connect together in a way that made me believe they’re just made for one another.
Falling Into You is a raw but intensely gripping coming-of-age story that instantly became one of my best reads in 2013.
4.5 stars

Quote Nell:
I wanted nothing more than to climb into the box with him and quit breathing, find him in whatever came after life.

Quote Nell;
I knew the song within a few chords: “Reminder” by Mumford & Sons. I thought He’d only play, so I was stunned when he took a breath and began to sing the words in a low, melodic, raspy voice. He didn’t just play the song as it was, though. He twisted it, changed it, made it his. It was already a beautiful, haunting song, but Colton’s version touched something in my soul.

Quote Colton:
“But when you feel that kind of all-consuming need for someone, a person you’d do fucking anything for, no matter what? They’re in your fucking skin, in your soul, like the essence of who they are is imprinted on you so completely that the very air you breathe and each molecule of who you are is tangled together. That’s love. I loved her like that. Colton’s voice is…shattered. And she’s gone. That’s why I have this shit on my chest, the scars. I couldn’t deal. I couldn’t accept that she was dead for the longest time.”

Quote Colton:
“I’m not just falling in love with you, Nell. I’m falling into you. You’re an ocean, and I’m falling in, drowning in the depths of who you are. Like you said, it’s scary in a way, but it’s also the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. You are the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced.”

Series Review; Katie Porter - Vegas Top Guns

Format; E-Book
Publisher; Samhain
Genre; Erotic contemporary romance
Series; Vegas Top Guns
Received Double Down and Inside Bet from author for review

Series Review;

When I started in Double Down I didn’t realize it was the beginning of gobbling up every story in the Vegas Top Guns series. I was amazed at how quickly I got invested in this group of F-16 pilots and the kink in each story appealed to me in various degrees. The role-playing in Double Down
was fun and steamy. It wasn’t gritty but I enjoyed the intensity of emotions it evoked with Ryan and Cassandra. Jon and Heather had such incredible sexual tension with asphyxiation to spice things up a notch. Even though the trope older woman, younger man isn’t my forte I was drawn in to Inside Bet from the start. With Hold ‘Em, Katie Porter again proved she could deliver a fantastic, heart rendering story with another trope not close to my heart; femdom. Lea and Mike touched my heart in unexpected ways. And last but not least, the one that was a book-gasm for me; Hard Way.
The blurb was the factor that refueled my intrigue for this series. The blurb of Hard Way made my spine tingle in all the right ways. I just had to read it. But Maggie, from Pearls World Of Romance, advised me to start from the beginning. I was glad I did. But when I started in Hard Way, Liam and Sunny cranked up the sexual grittiness to stellar heights. The forced sex wasn’t something I’ve read much before but I enjoy the complexity of emotions it can bring to the story. Liam and Sunny didn’t disappoint me.

What I absolutely love about Katie Porter’s writing is the fact that all the story elements seamlessly flow together and gain momentum to deliver an exquisite, emotion rife romance. Whether those story elements were simply enjoyed or blew my mind, it all worked for me in some way. Each story is an incredible delivery of romance which drew me in and kept me in. The characters are well-developed and are very personable. Their characteristics make them pop off the pages and in no time I was invested in them!
The Vegas Top Guns series has the same effect on me as chocolate, once I take one bite, I just want more!
Beneath are quotes and first reaction to the stories.

Double Down

I say yes to Double Down as a steamy erotic romance. I say yes to Cass and Ryan as a sizzling couple and I say yes to this author duo! Erotic romance which drew me in from the first pages and gave a very...*very* satisfying ending!!
4 stars

Quote; “I’m listening.” He was. Completely. Dark eyes fixed on hers. He’d leaned closer. His intimate posture suggested confidences and sordid secrets.’

Inside Bet
Fantastic characters to fall head over heels for, great sexual tension and a wonderful emotional conclusion. I loved Inside Bet! Now I have to get my hands on Leah's story. Femdom isn't my favorite but I've been enjoying myself with this series and can't seem to let go of the characters!
4 stars

Quote; 'That is, until he smiled.
Goose bumps dotted Heather’s arms. Something about that smile, so slow and controlled, completely belied his youthful looks—while revealing an adorably sexy pair of dimples. Unbelievable.
He licked his lower lip, leaving his mouth slightly parted.
That did it.'

Hold ‘Em
Wow, even though I didn't think Hold 'Em could deliver but the emotional ride with Leah and Mike was so beautiful and poignant. Loved, loved, loved it!"
4 stars

Quote; 'If you gave me a cuff, I’d take it. But the fact that I’m not wearing my old 1… It doesn’t have to mean anything more than it does.”
“Which is?"
'He brushed his knuckles over her bottom lip. “That when I’m around you, I can’t think about any other woman.”
Leah’s smile bloomed so slowly, coming from the warm kernel deep inside her. She was happy. Completely & fully happy.’

Quote; "'You know, Mike, you’ve got a lot of nerve pissing me off in the first hour you’re on base.”
“I should’ve waited?”
“Well, let’s just think about the possibilities, shall we?”
Mike permitted a slow smile. “Please do.'

Hard Way
The honest emotional struggle between a married couple, the fantastic, edgy and erotic energy zinging between Liam and Sunny, the epic romance and the pitch-perfect ending made this a five star read all the way. Hard Way is the finest erotic romance entry in the Vegas Top Guns series so far. Keep them coming, Katie Porter!!

Review;

Mary Ann Rivers’ debut novella, THE STORY GUY, has once again showed me a novella can create a profound impact on the reader. Brian and Carrie's story is layered with emotions, heat, humorous dialogues and an attention grabbing situation. I loved how they met via an unusual contact ad and the chemistry they had from the first moment.I loved seeing the rules they make and the rules they break in order to be together. I loved the sensuality of their kisses going on blazing hot phone-sex. The obstacle they had to overcome grabbed me by the throat and made me cry and go through several tissues.

The writing flows effortlessly and though I think the story could have benefitted from some exploration or extension of certain scenes, I couldn't help but be swept off my feet by its powerful message. The romance is so beautifully told and I came to care about Carrie and Brian. The balance between all the elements in the story is close to perfect for me it felt like I read it in one sigh.

Mary Ann Rivers gives voice to everyday characters whom have to deal with extraordinary circumstances. And with this concept the author shows that love can ignite a romance that can take your breath away.

THE STORY GUY is a novella which packs quite a punch with a gripping, sensuous and character driven story. I want more of what Mary Ann Rivers has to offer!

Leontine Goes Berlin & LLC Adventure part 3

Thursday;

Laughing until our bellies hurt.

I didn’t know it in the morning but this was going to be one of those days I will remember for a very long time. One of those days that has a glowing edge to them. It began with sun *YAY* and breakfast

It was a perfect day to go to the Berlin Zoo so we took off early and were there at 10 AM, I think. My memory is a little out of whack. We got in very quickly and we were hit with an uber dose of cuteness right away. A baby elephant…can I have an *aawwwhhhh* please ;)

After we walked for what, three minutes? Another cutie moment hit me. A baby giraffe, nibbling at the leaves, it was aawwwhhh all over again. The sun was out, the animals were beautiful and I was snapping pictures left and right. My crazy side already emerged doing spontaneous jazz hands but after a bit of walking we noticed a statue of a gorilla. We had to take pictures there. It was too good an opportunity to pass up.

This one was kind off decent.

But then we walked a bit further and we saw another gorilla statue. That moment was when my inner crazy got out. I tell ya. These pics tell it all. I’ll just shut up!

Then we all had to “ride” the gorilla. Dry-humping included! From that moment on we were lost, I mean, every statue had to be given some love. That men in white coats weren’t called in is beyond me!! We laughed so hard, did all sorts of crazy but it was all in the spirit of the day. And I was among friends who understood me, so all was good ;)

We walked among other monkeys who, of course, had wild monkey sex. I was kind of sad when I saw the lion and lioness. She wanted to get out and the lion made these huffing sounds. I love watching these animals, their raw power, from up close but they need the big wild to run, to hunt, to mate and do all the stuff their nature tells them to do.

I also saw a big, black-ish panther who made me instantly remember Rain Tairen Soul. The tigers were beautiful but a part of me thought; Aren’t they going crazy by the light flashes of camera’s going off? I would!

As we walked around we saw beautiful or funny animals everywhere. The hilarious fun we had that day was *epic* Some pictures or vids will be shared just among the four of us and it is one of those days that wouldn’t have been the same if one of us wouldn’t have been there. With bellies hurting of laughing and the time spent at the zoo we didn’t have the time to go to Charlotteburg. Next year, it’s what we promised each other!

When we got back we headed to Arcade again, did some clothes shopping and met VivianArend in the lobby of the Hotel *squuueeeeeee* After some quick catching up we headed out to the Thai again for some delicious food. That night we talked up a storm again with Vivian Arend and her roomie Imogen Howson, editor at Samhain. We had a hoot and a half and again, sometimes pictures say it all;

Vivian and me doing the crazy pose.
Vivian and me snapped from another angle.

We were in the lobby until after midnight and I was so glad Friday was our off day. Just lounging in the lobby, resting up a bit before LLC would commence full force!

Leontine goes Berlin & LLC Adventure part 2

Wednesday

I'm singing in the rain...

The weather was rainy. After breakfast we bought umbrella’s and headed off to the warehouse; KaDeWe. I will say that the metro system of Berlin is awesome. Hardly any waiting time if you missed a connection. We emerged out of the metro station and it was pouring, thank the lord the KaDeWe was only a three minute walk away.

We entered the warehouse and the first floor was filled with luxurious brands of perfume. I could get high just on the smells and when a sales person handed us a tester of La Vie Est Belle I sniffed it like a drug addict. It was soooo good but also *very* expensive. Someday I will get it but that day wasn’t the day *sad*

We walked the floors and ended up at the shoe section. Oh yes, it was good! My inner shoe-compass-needle was spinning out of control. Then however I checked the prices. €300 - €400 and even €600 – I was afraid to even try them on. Perhaps when I win big in the lottery I will buy them. This day however, wasn’t the day *sad*

It wasn’t long after that where several inner hunger demons started to rear their heads and food was not needed but demanded! So we headed to the top floor. It was that moment where I heard angels sing; Chocoholics heaven. Almost a whole floor dedicated to several brands of chocolate. Natascha, Lucy and Maggie practically had to drag me to the lunch room. “Later, Leontine! We hungry, we food, NOW!”

We all grabbed food and sat down at a table. What happened next I’ve got no idea. The topic of conversation, I’ve got no clue, but Natascha and I were in a LOL moment, which Lucy and Maggie got on camera.

Even though there are pics of me online with facial expressions I abhor, I love these. It is gives everyone a good sense of all the fun we had.

After lunch we headed down to chocolate heaven where I could have my fill.

A box of chocolate made for me ;)
kissy face...I made them quite a few times!

One of the brands; Lindt – had a great advertisement going on. Which the four of us had great fun with...outside. I tried to take pictures inside. The instinct to take pictures is like second nature. I wanted to facebook or twitter all the good stuff but there was a sign that said; NO PICTURES. But instinct took over, I couldn't help myself. Camera ready for some choice snap shots. When one of the security noticed my move to take out the camera he gave me the stinky evil eye. I kid you not. I gulped and gave him my most innocent look; Sorry!! Even though no pictures were allowed we did make a few where there were no security guards. Bad, bad us *wink*

After browsing a bit more we went outside. I already noticed the fountain on my way in and since it was relatively dry I wanted a few fun pics. Of course I didn’t want to do it with umbrella and coat on so I was freezing my booty off when they were taken. Smiling and laughing however generated a bit of warmth!

We took the metro back and by the time we arrived it was again; Hungry…food…now! So we brought our bought stuff to our room and headed off to the Arcade (mall next door). I was in to pasta that night and the gals indulged me in it. After we got our bowl with food and drinks we started talking. This is a snippet of the conversation – courtesy of Maggie who facebooked it;

"Just another conversation with our beloved Leontine who never fails to make us pee in our pants laughing!

Maggie: LLC said on FB they will announce 2 authors that have already committed for next year.

Natascha asked: who do we hope these authors are?

Leontine: Sharrilyn McKenyon

We: .......... group-LMAO
Sherrilyn Who? That a new author?

Leontine: I was thinking Shannon McKenna, Kinley McGregor and Sherrilyn Kenyon......but I meant Kresley Cole

We: WHAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

And then Leontine hacked up a longue."

This is a picture of us doing our social media stuff afterwards;

In the evening we sat down in the hotel lobby again doing some reading, social media and talking. We needed a bit of down time after the fun, walking around and sight-seeing. Again I went to bed shortly after midnight but did I sleep in the next morning; of course not *deep sigh*

Leontine goes Berlin & LLC Adventure part 1

The pre-fun of it all;

Ever since we knew that there would be a second LoveLetter Convention, hence known as LLC, we knew we would attend. Tickets were ordered as soon as they were available. Hotel was booked, train tickets were bought, and the moment the calendar said it was May the anticipation rose. There was a busy correspondence between me, Natascha, Maggie and Lucy. What to do in the days before the LLC? The Berlin Zoo, KaDeWe and a castle in Charlotteburg was on our list. I decided to take two weeks off from work and go to my sister, Natascha, a few days earlier.

The weather forecast was good, 20+ degrees Celsius, so I packed my capri pants, shirts and sandals. Well, that became a bit of a challenge because as the days led up to the actual Berlin trip the weather gods decided they change it up a bit to 15 degrees Celcius and rain. I was already at my sister and what was packed were summer clothes. Fuck! It’s what I literarily thought at that moment. But it wasn’t going to change the fact we were going to have fun. Rain or not.

I arrived at my sister on Friday, May 17th. We spend some time with our parents. That Friday we went to a Chinese buffet. We ate…a lot! On Sunday I got introduced to my parents new Shih-Tzu pup. We BBQ-ed and…ate...more than enough! See a pattern here? You will notice it will extend to my Berlin vacay *wink*

It was Tuesday. Natascha and I had everything in order; bags were packed, snacks for the trip made and a schedule printed. Of course during the train trip I got confused during the exchange of trains. I freaked out. My sister stayed calm and she got us on the right train. A disaster avoided. After a five hour trip we touched ground in Berlin. Woot, let the vacation commence! We hooked up with Maggie and Lucy at the train station and together we walked to the IBIS hotel. We checked in, unpacked our suitcases and headed to the mall next door. The first thing we did? Eat ice cream LOL we found an awesome Italian ice cream place and there the first, of many, group pictures were made.

Who wouldn't smile after that delicious ice cream?

Tiramisu ice cream *thud*

We walked around for a bit and decided to eat and then head back to the hotel. Go figure our eating habits, dessert before main course, really??!! The Thai was fantastic and with full bellies we went back to the hotel lobby for some leisure reading and chatting up a storm. Would the LLC13 be as fantastic as the last one? Were our anticipations too high? At midnight we went to bed but did we all have a goodnight’s rest? Well, some of us were up at the ungodly hour of five AM. It should be illegal to wake up that early on a vacation!

See tomorrow how the Wednesday went!

Me, Lover At Last and the LoveLetter Convention.

I’ve got no clue how to start this blogpost as it will be me rambling. But then again, how is that different from other posts, right?! I’ve just had a week off from work where I spend some much needed me, myself and I time. I read J.R. Ward’s Lover At Last and yeah, the story had some major likes and dislikes. There’s no fuel to write a review but here’s a quick summary of thoughts;

CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

• Qhuinn and Blay; I wanted to submerge myself in their romance but I didn’t get all that much in their book. I think it got snowed under by too many other character/story arcs. I still love the ever living crap out of them but with a lead up in several previous books the romance stalled in LAL and didn’t have much progress.

• A HEA in 20 or so pages; Really?! With all the emotional issues going on between Qhuinn and Blay I mostly got superficial or cryptic dialogues. Some hot, quick sexing and then at the end of the story all of a sudden Qhuinn has an epiphany about his sexual orientation. The ending was very romantic but in twenty pages it didn’t come off as very believable.

• The lie of Blay; This really irked me. There was no reason in my book where Blay couldn’t speak up to Qhuinn about the status of his and Saxton’s relationship.

• The M/M aspect; I got my panties in a twist when I read the first erotic scene between Blay and Qhuinn. With the anticipation high I went off like a skyrocket. But then it stayed the same, it was all physical release and very little emotional connection between them during the progress of their story.

• The pregnancy of Layla; Oh come on!! Do you really want me to believe Layla goes in to a miscarriage for a few days and then Payne walks in, puts her healing hands on her, and all is well with the young. My jaw dropped to the floor how J.R. Ward handled that one. Why not let Layla have a healthy pregnancy to begin with if the young was to be part of the story arc? Pages saved to devout to Blay and Qhuinn.

• Layla; Her character arc is intriguing. I love the star-crossed love thing she’s got going on with Xcor. • Assail and Sola; Another two characters whom held my attention. Really like the chemistry they have together.

•iAm and Trez; Where they are going I don’t know and I really don’t care all that much. I almost skipped their parts in the story.

•Xcor and his band of Bastards; Getting very invested in them and like the bad and ominous vibe they add to the story.

•Wrath; While his personality has changed and the innate bad-ass vibe has dimmed a bit I like where his story is going.

While there where things I liked very much overall the romance of Blay and Qhuinn was so-so. It wasn’t bad but I didn’t get the pay-off for being so invested in them.

3 stars

Okay, those were my thoughts about Lover At Last in a nutshell.

I had an incredible week off. Spend time with my SIL, BIL, nephew and God-twin. I cleaned out my closets, waxed my floors, read and had a date with Janna. I also perfected my brownies with Muscovado sugar. I feel like a baking geek admitting it but I *love* it when a recipe gets better than the last time simply by changing some ingredients. And, OMG let me tell you…it’s good I gave away a lot or else I would’ve eaten brownies every day until it was gone. I vote for making brownies a separate food group which you need every day ;)

Now that May is on the horizon me and my sister, Natascha and friends Maggie and Lucy are getting ready for the LoveLetter Convention. Last year we had a blast and looking forward to all the authors who are coming; Courtney Milan, Delilah Marvelle, Vivian Arend, Thea Harrison, Karen Rose, Maya Banks, Cherry Adair, Michelle Styles and more!

Now I'm off to work and find out what's happening there...

Have a great monday!
